Board Certified Obesity Medicine Physician
Julie graduated from Le Moyne college in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. She went on to Syracuse University to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1996 and a Master of Science as an Adult Nurse Practitioner in 1998. She received a Post-Master’s FNP Certificate from SUNY Health Science Center and she is a member of the Obesity Medicine Association.
Prior to joining Medical Weight Loss of NY in 2014, her experience includes gynecological care and health education and counseling for diabetic and hyperlipidemic patients. She enjoys encouraging and helping patients improve their quality of life through weight loss.
Martha is a registered dietician with a Nutrition degree from Cornell University and certificates in Training in Adult Weight Management and Pediatric Weight Management from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Her practice specialty is weight management.
Martha joined Medical Weight Loss of NY in 2014 where she’s passionate about helping individuals across their lifespan achieve and maintain their weight goals through individually designed weight loss plans.
Dr. Weekes earned a medical degree from Meharry Medical College. At Rochester Institute of Technology, for undergraduate studies, she majored in Biochemistry, with emphasis on Spanish and Sociology. She also matriculated at Vanderbilt University and Linda Loma University for general surgery residency training.
Dr. Weekes pursued a research Fellowship in Orthopaedics at the Rothman Institute, where her focus was real-time patient outcomes after a sports-related injury, including depression, body image, expectations, and postoperative performance. She has authored many publications in the orthopaedics realm.
Since the pandemic, Dr. Weekes is using her training and expertise in obesity medicine to help patients reverse comorbidities and to pre-emptively prevent disease through education.
