Cindy started our program 4/9/10 and has lost 62 pounds. She was on Full Optifast until 8/4/10 and lost 40 pounds. She lost the last 22 on Partial.
I was never so honored when I was asked to write about my weight loss experience, clearly this should be the easy part. Until now I sit here and try to put it on paper. You see unlike a lot of people being overweight wasn’t a challenge I had my whole life (just most of my adult life). Five years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I went into the chemotherapy and then radiation literally fighting for my life. So you’d think losing weight would be “a piece of cake” compared to that. Already overweight when diagnosed and radiation destroying my thyroid my weight continued to go up.
Happy to be alive and in remission, thyroid level stable (through medication) but so unhappy about my weight. I have a wonderful husband of 25 years, 3 happy healthy kids, a good job, lots of great friends and family. I refused to buy myself anything, wore over sized sweats and turtle necks to cover up as much of me as I could. I heard about Dr. Scinta through a neighbor. I ran into at Walmart, thought well the only thing I got to lose is weight and I gave the office a call.
After my appt with Jen I left the office without making any decisions. After all I’d be doing something for myself – spending money on me, taking time from our house hold just for me. I wanted to cry. My husband went with me and we talked on the way home. I wanted this so bad and he agreed I should do this. I called the office back from the car with my decision, and I can honestly say that’s the first time I truly felt a weight lifted from my shoulders. I went on the full plan honestly for me it was the easiest. (I’m not saying it was easy at all) but it took all the planning and thinking out of what I was going to eat next. I was surprised at how satisfied I felt and that I was never hungry. I was also exercising which didn’t seem like a chore anymore.
I love the way I look and feel now. Don’t get me wrong, I still love an oversized sweatshirt. But now it’s just for comfort not to cover anything up. I use to hate going to the mall and couldn’t wait to get out of the stores. Now my girls are waiting for me while I shop. I know I did this because “I wanted it” but I’m a success because of Dr. Scinta and her staff. I’m on maintenance now, I’ll still have a shake -or two but eating all foods. I thought losing would have been the hard part. But with the help and continued support from the staff and Dr. Scinta I will continue to succeed. I can’t thank them enough!
