Weight loss is not an easy journey and it’s something I have struggled with since becoming an adult, more so after having children and going back to work. There is less time for me or to even think about myself. For the last several years, my days have been busy with a full-time job as an RN and then coming home and being a full-time mom and wife. It does not leave much room to think about what I am putting into my body.
This means several nights of eating out and picking up fast food. I also got into the habit of not eating much during the day and then binging once I got home. This became a never-ending cycle of eating bad, knowing I was not eating healthy, and feeling guilty about it. Trust me, when I say I have tried all the diets and trends out there over the years, none of which worked.
I am a stress eater, so stress is a big trigger for me. On a bad day, I felt I deserved to eat ice cream or have a candy bar. It finally got to a point where I looked in the mirror and truly did not like who was looking back at me, both physically and mentally. My liver function labs were high, which honestly scared me and was a big reason to turn things around. Enough was enough. I decided I needed to be selfish and give myself time to reach out for help. This is where Medical Weight Loss NY came into my life.
I spoke with a friend who told me about Dr. Scinta and her wonderful staff. She told me they really helped her and a few of her friends in their weight loss journeys. It was easy to call and get a consultation and get the ball rolling. Everyone at this office has been amazing and kind, guiding me to a place in my life where I feel happy and proud of myself. Since joining their program, I have lost 30 lbs. I am 5’4” and at my highest weight I was just above 170 lbs. Now I weigh 139 lbs.
I am in the maintenance phase of the program and doing well. It continues to be a struggle on some days because my busy life has not changed, but my thoughts and decision to make this weight loss journey a priority helps me make better choices.
I feel better mentally and physically. My gut health has improved, which was something I struggled with. My feet used to ache and cramp all the time and now this is gone. My labs improved, which is a big motivator for me. To see my body chemistry improving is a big deal! It means I am healthier and will be around longer for my family.
There is so much to weight loss than just the loss itself. For me, it’s about why I decided to commit, which was to be overall healthier to continue to make memories with my kids and my husband. I am so thankful for all those who have been involved in my journey at this practice. They have made a huge impact on my life and in turn, my family’s lives.
From the staff who first contacted me, to the front desk staff, nutritionist, nurse practitioners, nurses, and providers – the impact they make is so important. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
